FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What documents are required to hire from LCR?
Both parts of your license (If you still have it), 2 further proofs of ID (Bills, statement, passport and national insurance card etc.) and your DVLA check code.

What is your minimum age requirement?
Hirers must be between the ages of 23 and 70, the driver needs to have held his license for 3 years.

What if I have Points?
We do accept drivers with minimum endorsements (3 points). We also accept drivers with points that are expiring soon or have expired. There are other factors we take into consideration such as what the endorsements were for.

Do you take a deposit?
Yes we do take a deposit. This ranges from between £200 and £1000 depending on the vehicle and the age of the hirer. There is an additional deposit of £250 that applies for European Rentals.

What is the hire period, what if I’m late?
The hire period is 24 hours, but the vehicle must be taken and then returned within our opening hours. For example, we are open until 13:00 on Saturday, so to have a 24 hour hire the vehicle must be collected by 13:00 on Friday to have a full rental. We have a 20 minute grace period. If the vehicle is returned later than that, we will be charging for the next day.

What are your opening hours?
We are open
Monday to Friday 08:00 am until 05:30 pm;
Saturday 08:30 am until 1:00 pm and
Sunday 09:00 am until 12:00 noon

Amendments, Cancellations and Extensions
We do allow amendments to bookings if enough time has been given. We need to check whether the amendment does not clash with another booking. There is a small charge for cancellations depending on how soon the cancellation was. We do allow extensions, again as long as enough time has been given

Parking fines and Congestion Charges
Any and all parking fines are the customers’ responsibility, as are congestion charges. Our commercial vehicles are registered with TFL which at the end of the rental, we look to see how many charges were incurred. We then bill the customer appropriately.

What is your Fuel and mileage policy?
Fuel is provided and returned at the same level as it was given. We check the fuel with the customers before they leave our premises on a condition check sheet. We give 100 miles free per day, excess miles is £0.20p+VAT. If you would like more mileage we can work out special rates to accommodate your requirements.

Can I take the vehicle abroad?
We do allow our vehicles to be taken abroad but we must be notified beforehand. The rental and insurance rates are different compared to UK based rentals and the booking will need to be adjusted accordingly.

Can I pay by cash?
We do not take any cash, all payments are made by either credit or debit card.

What if the vehicle is damaged?
The vehicle has an excess that the customers are liable for. Usually they are responsible for any damages or accidents unless caused by a third party.

Can I have an additional driver?
We can add an additional driver at a cost of just £10.00+VAT per day. Please note that once a driver is added then we cannot remove them for the duration of the rental.

Can I smoke in the vehicles?
We do NOT allow any smoking in any of our vehicles as it is illegal.

What if I have a breakdown or accident?
All of our vehicles have full UK breakdown cover. In case of an accident, do not accept any liability and inform LCR within 24 hours along with filling in the accident form online. Note down the details and attach images of the third party.
